Emily Cohen

Emily Cohen

Emily came to Power Yoga, like many, as a therapy for a knee injury and was immediately struck by its transformative qualities both on and off the mat. Drawn to its physical benefits, Emily soon found the remarkable transformation it could have on her over-active-ping-pong ball of a mind.

Emily completed her teacher training under one of London’s top Power Yoga instructors, Stewart Gilchrist. Whilst kicking her asanas into place, his inspirational teachings taught Emily the importance of an effortless practice allowing the body to flow mindlessly with the breath.

At the heart of her practise is a strong, steady breath and the search for stillness in the most dynamic flow. Emily’s teaching is uplifting, energetic and dynamic and powerful, whilst incorporating elements of fun to her classes.

Quirky Questions

What does Yoga mean to you?
I aim to teach yoga to help heal, cleanse, calm and detoxify the mind, whilst challenging the entire body, increasing flexibility and strength. I always try to incorporate a fast flowing sequence of poses designed to make you sweat and generate heat in the body to release toxins. The flow creates strength and flexibility as well as bringing calmness, awareness and balance to both the mind and body. Yoga makes you stretch, sweat and smile all at once - it truly is magical!
