Meredith Gunderson

Meredith Gunderson

Born and bred in Buffalo, New York, I began practicing yoga as a student of Art History at the University of Colorado Boulder in 1990's. The following year whilst living in London and traveling in Europe, I picked up my first book on Buddhism in Edinburgh and began to meditate.

Yoga and meditation have been my steadfast companions ever since. It is my privilege and pleasure to share these practice. After eighteen rewarding years working with contemporary art in the UK and US, I became a full-time yoga and meditation teacher in 2014 and spent the summer in South India learning, living and teaching in Bangalore and Tamil Nadu.

My students are busy people living in a demanding, yet extraordinary world and my teaching style empowers them to develop skills that bring poise, clarity, resilience and joy, both on and off the yoga mat and meditation cushion.

Expect to de-stress, re-balance and nourish your body and mind in my classes. I provide precise yet simplified instruction to guide you to reconnect with your body and breath. Classes are suitable for beginners and beyond and I love teaching mixed level classes.

If you are a beginner, expect to be guided into yoga postures in a gentle yet concise way, surprising yourself with what you are capable of when working in an informed and patient manner. If you are more experienced, expect a slightly slower, yet deeper practice where you will rediscover your body on yoga and create a more nuanced, rich practice.

I live in London with my husband, daughter and fluffy white dog named Teddy Roosevelt. A full family life, my interest in yoga, a desire to create a meaningful business and a gigantic appetite for books and culture keeps me happy and my curiosity well fed.

In spare moments I find time to garden and make art for my family and friends. Despite being a great lover of cities, my favourite places are Lake Erie and the Scottish Hebridies where I am lucky to find myself often among loved ones, the open landscape and sailing boats.

Meredith is the founder of The Modern Meditation Movement, a curated resource portal to inspire and support meditation practice as well as explore how meditation changes our lives and ultimately, our world.
